Adaptation of the Beckman Model B spectrophotometer to the measurement of dilute fluorescent solutions.

چکیده
HE INCREASING USE of fluorimetry in routine analysis is reflected in a variety of commercially available instruments which, in many instances, are either prohibitive to the average laboratory due to high cost or lack proper sensitivity. Unlike the Beckman DU spectrophotometer, its clinical counterpart, known as Model B, is not provided with a standard fluorimetric attachment. The versatility of the latter instrument has already been demonstrated in this laboratory by a simple adaptation as a spectrofluorometer (1). To our knowledge, Model B has not been used for the quantitative appraisal of fluorescent solutions. The assembly herein described makes use of the standard electronic circuit of the spectrophotometer provided with a RCA IP28 photomultiplier attachment, a recent addition which considerably increases its range of sensitivity and allows the determination of quite dilute solutions of fluorescing material.

متن کاملMeasurement of spectral bandwidth, as exemplified with the Beckman "Enzyme Analyzer System TR spectrophotometer".
This paper describes simple methods for determining spectral bandwidth by measurement and by calculation. We measured the spectral bandwidth of the monochromator from the Beckman Enzyme Analyzer TR, and found it to be 3.5-4.0 nm (av 3.8) by two different methods. We visually estimated it to be 4 nm. Using the specifications for the diffraction grafting, focal length, and fixed slit width, we ca...

The deposits of clinoptilolite (CLI) in Iran after activation with sodium chloride or sodium hydroxide solution was subjected to ion exchange with some heavy and toxic cations. The results showed that the absorption for Ca2+ (7.5 ppm), Cu2+ (50 ppm), Zn2+ (40 ppm), Cd2+ (40 ppm), Pb2+ (500 ppm) and Al3+ (5 ppm) were 95.2, 96.70, 93.30,99.12, 99.2 and 90.0 percents, respectively. متن کاملPhotocatalytic Activity of ZnO Nanoparticles (Bare, Doped and Co-doped with Mg and La) in the Removal of Rhodamine B from Aqueous Solutions by UVC Irradiation
Background & objectives: The organic dyes are environmental pollutants that pour into water sources by industrial wastewater. It is necessary to develop effective methods for removing pollutants. The aim of this study was to evaluate photocatalytic efficiency of bare ZnO nanoparticles doped with Mg and La (1 to 6% by weight) and Mg 5% -La 5% / ZnO and Mg6%-La4% / ZnO nanoparticles in the remova...
متن کاملColorimetric determination of carbon monoxide in air by an improved palladium chloride method.
The decrease in palladium chloride can be determined calorimetrically (2) and by means of iodometric titration (3). Christman, Block, and Schultz (4) determined CO in air by transferring gas mixtures to flasks at pressures of about 0.5 atmosphere, containing known quantities of PdC12. After 6 to 24 hours the PdClz which remained was converted to PdIz by the addition of excess KI, the pinkish re...
